Sperry Top-Sider Charleston Race Week Partners with Outside Television
Charleston, South Carolina (March 12, 2013) — What do you get when you cross the largest sailing regatta of its kind in the Western Hemisphere with America’s leader in active lifestyle programming for television? Widespread impact! That’s why the organizers of Sperry Top-Sider Charleston Race Week have developed a partnership with Outside Television.
Outside Television, America's only national programming network dedicated to the active, outdoor lifestyle and the more than 141 million Americans who regularly participate, will begin airing a 30-second national spot to draw attention to the regatta starting in mid March. This promotional message will reach more than eight million U.S. homes and be repeated frequently until the regatta's conclusion on April 21.

Based on the renowned publication, Outside Magazine, Outside Television embraces a broad range of sports and activities involving wind, water, snow and terrain. “Sperry Top-Sider Charleston Race Week is certainly one of the best of its kind, so we are pleased to help call attention to such a prestigious competition,” said Amy Hornyak, Director of Marketing for Outside Television.
Featuring visually compelling footage captured at the 2012 edition of the Sperry Top-Sider Charleston Race Week, the promotional spot will air several times a day between now and the final day of the regatta. Outside Television began rolling out nationally in June 2012 on Comcast Xfinity and other top cable systems. It’s available in most of the major cities that are already home to millions of active lifestyle enthusiasts, from Boston to Miami, Chicago to Houston, and San Francisco to New York. In the Southeast, the network has an affiliation with Comcast, in markets that include Augusta, Charleston, and Savannah. Sperry Top-Sider Charleston Race Week runs from April 18 through April 21 and is open to all monohull sailboats 20 to 80 feet in length. The event is owned and managed by Charleston Ocean Racing Association, and is supported by Sperry Top-Sider, the Charleston Harbor Resort & Marina, Vineyard Vines and Gosling’s Rum. Additional sponsors include the Town of Mt.
