Our Mission

CRW Events, a charitable nonprofit organization, operates with the mission of promoting amateur athletic sailing for the public benefit. Our goal is to foster strong connections with the next generation of sailors — particularly college students and beginners of all ages — by making sailing more accessible and inclusive.

Over the years, we have evolved from our roots under a long-established parent organization that successfully led boat racing competitions for 27 years. Today, Charleston Race Week is recognized as one of the largest sailboat regattas in the United States.

The event takes place in the Town of Mount Pleasant, which plays an active role in its success — including the direct involvement of the mayor. The town supports the regatta in part because of the significant economic impact it brings to the local hospitality and restaurant industries. This community support has resulted in grants that help make the event possible each year.

In keeping with our mission, we have worked to remove financial barriers for aspiring sailors by waiving entry fees for individuals in need and providing free access passes — including support for student sailors at the College of Charleston and other local programs.
